VDMA exchange of experiences at Scheuch

Industry experts from Austria and Bavaria met at Scheuch in Aurolzmünster for a VDMA exchange of experiences. Ideas and impulses for the mechanical engineering sales of tomorrow were discussed together.

On 5 June 2025, the Austrian and Bavarian regional associations of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA e.V.) hosted the third ‘Sales’ exchange of experience - this time at the Scheuch Group in Aurolzmünster. Around 50 managing directors and sales experts from the mechanical and plant engineering sector came together to discuss current challenges and innovative sales solutions in an open dialogue. Host Scheuch, a leading international company for industrial air pollution control, provided the perfect setting for the event.

Challenges as opportunities

The tenor was clear: the change in the market is also an opportunity to rethink sales. New perspectives were opened up - from the strategic redesign of the sales organisation to AI-supported predictive sales and the more effective use of CRM systems. Georg C. Priesner, Managing Director of VDMA Austria, began by providing the latest figures from the industry, setting the tone for the day.

Heinz Autischer, COO of the Scheuch Group, and Alois Hermandinger, Director Sales and Product Management Scheuch GmbH, presented the Scheuch company with its broad product range and technological expertise in the field of environmental technology. Experts presented concrete approaches for modern sales work: Robert Konjusic, VDMA Business Advisory, spoke about CRM potential and new models for sales processes. Dr Parsis Dastani, Dastani Consulting GmbH, used practical examples to illustrate how predictive sales analytics using artificial intelligence can significantly strengthen sales. Centerline presented a tool for AI-supported risk management - with development input from Scheuch.

Practical and future-oriented

At the headquarters in Aurolzmünster, participants not only gained theoretical knowledge, but also a direct insight into how digitalisation and automation are driving the company's transformation. With 1,440 employees worldwide, a turnover of over 300 million euros and around 16 locations, the family-owned company is one of the global technology leaders in its sector.

Strong network, valuable dialogue

The exchange of experiences not only provided new impetus, but also strengthened the cross-industry dialogue. Host Scheuch and the VDMA were able to offer a platform on which challenges were not only identified, but also discussed in a solution-oriented manner - with many positive impulses for the future path in sales.

"Over the past five years, many crises and external changes have affected our companies in the mechanical and plant engineering sector - from Covid 19 with production shutdowns, travel restrictions, supply chain problems and sharp declines in incoming orders to wars in Europe and the Middle East. Machine and plant manufacturers have made strategies and changes to their sales organisations and sales channels in order to continue to successfully sell their solutions and products. At ERFA Sales, we discuss new approaches in sales and exchange examples of solutions with experts from the field and learn from best practice examples," says Georg C. Priesner, Managing Director of VDMA Austria.
