Scheuch presented innovations in CO₂ capture to Regional Minister for Economic Affairs Achleitner
As part of his tour of the district, Regional Minister for Economic Affairs Markus Achleitner visited the Scheuch Group in Aurolzmünster. The visit focused on current developments in the fields of CO₂ capture and future industrial technologies.
On 20 May, Regional Minister for Economic Affairs KommR Markus Achleitner stopped off at the environmental technology company Scheuch in Aurolzmünster as part of his tour of the Ried district. Together with representatives from politics and industry, the delegation learned about the latest developments at the internationally active industrial company, as well as future topics in the fields of environmental technology, innovation and industrial transformation.
Scheuch is one of the world’s leading companies in the field of industrial air and environmental technology and develops plant solutions for various industrial sectors worldwide. The company is particularly renowned for its technological innovation, high level of engineering expertise and sustainable solutions for industrial processes. With around 1,400 employees worldwide and a turnover of approximately €321 million in the 2025/26 financial year, the Scheuch Group is one of Upper Austria’s leading industrial companies.
Innovation and future industrial technologies
Following a welcome and a company presentation by the management, the focus shifted to current developments in the field of CO₂ capture. Among other things, the TACO2 research project – for which Scheuch has been nominated for the 2026 State Innovation Award – was presented, along with ongoing pilot projects in Austria and Germany. Scheuch’s aim is not only to capture CO₂ from industrial processes, but also to rethink it as a valuable resource and make it usable – for example, in applications within the cement industry or in projects involving biogenic CO₂ from waste incineration plants. During the visit, the guests were also given an insight into production at the headquarters and into the technical centre, which houses current Scheuch CO₂ capture plants and various test stations.
“At Scheuch, innovation arises from the interplay of research, engineering and industrial implementation. We see great potential, particularly in the field of CO₂ capture, to further develop industrial processes in a sustainable manner whilst simultaneously strengthening the region as a business location in the long term,” emphasised Heinz Autischer, Co-CEO of the Scheuch Group.
The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss current economic developments, international market requirements and the importance of innovation and technology for Upper Austria as an industrial hub.
“The Scheuch Group impressively demonstrates that Upper Austria sets international standards in innovation and sustainable industrial technologies. The company combines technological excellence with concrete solutions for environmental and climate protection, thereby strengthening our position as an economic and industrial hub. It is precisely such companies that make it clear: sustainability and competitiveness are not opposites, but a shared factor for success for the future of our region,” emphasised Markus Achleitner, Regional Minister for Economic Affairs, during his visit to the Scheuch Group.
