Fossil fuels –
– arise from plant-derived biomass as a result of biological and physical processes that take place over an extended period. Burning fossil fuels produces not only the greenhouse gas CO2, but also dust and SO2 emissions (except in the case of natural gas) that have an impact on the environment and must be treated efficiently.
Dry electrostatic precipitators (for dedusting) and fabric filters (for dedusting and DeSOx) are used for flue gas cleaning purposes.
Cyclones such as spark and rotary separators, as well as tangential and axial cyclone systems, act as pre-separators and today, due to their limited degree of separation and for safety and economic reasons, they are primarily combined with additional dedusting systems such as or .
The multi-cyclone is used for the dry separation of dusts and gases. It consists of a specified number of separating elements that are mounted in a common housing and is used as a separator or pre-separator depending on the particular application - for air quantities from 800 Am3/h to 400,000 Am3/h. If greater air quantities are required, several multicyclones can be used in parallel - e.g. 2x400,000 Am³/h.
Scheuch electrostatic precipitators are an efficient, beautifully engineered solution for particulate control in biomass-fuelled boiler plants. They can be installed in any application that uses wood and wood waste, bark and so on.Electrostatic precipitators are exclusively used for dedusting clean gas dust loads of up to 10 mg/Nm³. With up to three electrical fields installed in series, it is possible to achieve degrees of separation of as much as 99% and above. Their real standout feature is their robust design, which takes account of operational modes and fuel fluctuations in practice. Operators particularly value their excellent accessibility, which allows maintenance and inspection to be performed with ease.
Due to their excellent filtration properties, fabric filter systems are ideally suited to separating fine dust up to a guaranteed value of < 5 mg/Nm³, and in combination with sorptive processes for reducing other contaminants. The following factors determine the quality of the filter bag material used:
Scheuch offers fabric filters in the form of compact units as well as single-chamber and multi-chamber filter systems with the patented system, depending on plant size.
