Scheuch Group awarded state prize for innovation
With TACO₂, Scheuch sets a milestone for the decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries.
The Scheuch Group wins second place of the Upper Austrian State Prize for Innovation 2025 and has been nominated for the Austrian State Prize for Innovation. The company from Aurolzmünster impressed the jury with its TACO₂ project – a process for industrial CO₂ capture. The state prize honours companies that contribute to climate protection, strengthening the region and innovation with forward-looking technologies.
CO₂ capture
With the TACO₂ project, the Scheuch Group is working on a process for capturing CO₂ from flue gases. The aim is to make CO₂ capture more efficient, cost-effective and usable for industrial applications.
Award ceremony in Linz
The award was presented on 30 September 2025 at the ORF regional studio in Linz. In addition to the Scheuch Group, EV Group and STIWA Group were among the winners. The certificates were presented by Governor Thomas Stelzer and Regional Minister for Economic Affairs and Research Markus Achleitner. Stefan Scheuch, CEO of the Scheuch Group, and Christian Bartel, Head of R&D, accepted the awards.
Important step towards decarbonisation
‘With this project, we are setting a decisive milestone on the path to economically viable CO₂ capture for industry,’ emphasises Stefan Scheuch. ‘We are developing practical solutions that make an economic contribution to the decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries.’
In future, the captured CO₂ can be used in a variety of ways – for example, in food processing, in greenhouses or as a technical gas. The Scheuch Group is thus positioning itself as a driving force in strengthening Upper Austria as an industrial location in the field of CO₂ capture and opening up sustainable ways for companies to deal with emissions.
