FIBRE SIFTING

Sifter Systems

The use of MDF fibre sifter from Scheuch ensures the high quality of MDF boards, especially when board thickness is low.

During the manufacture of MDF board, wood fibres are wet glued, dried and then pressed into board. The fibres used in this process contain a certain amount of unwanted contaminants. These can be fibre clumps caused by the gluing process or by moisture, but may also be foreign contaminants such as metal or rubber particles. Coarse fibres and foreign bodies disrupt the pressing process and have a negative impact on the surface quality and homogeneity of the MDF boards. The fibre sifter’s task is to classify the fibre material and cut out unwanted contaminants.

It thereby eliminates material-related disruptions in the subsequent production process and ensures the high quality of the MDF boards.

Cascaded chip sifter
In much the same way, a cascaded chip sifter is used to ensure the quality and purity of chips used in the production of chipboard.
