New Products at Powtech
Roughly 60 employees in the process engineering, research and development, and the design engineering departments work closely together at Scheuch GmbH in Aurolzmünster/Austria to optimize existing systems and develop new ones. The primary goal in this process is always that of achieving the best solution — both technically and economically — while keeping life cycle costs as low as possible and fine-tuning these solutions to a customer’s specific requirements as well as the existing circumstances.
At this year’s Powtech trade fair in Nuremberg, Scheuch will again present several new products for the sector from April 27 to April 29 at Stand No. 308 in Hall 6.
New: EMC with 10-meter filter bags ready for practical application
Despite initial reservations in the sector, the use of 8-meter long filter bags in large-scale plants in the cement industry has become the standard because of Scheuch’s EMC technology. In the interim, there are now 36 plants worldwide that are currently operating with this technology or that will be commissioned soon. With the conclusion of long-term tests using a full-scale EMC pilot plant, Scheuch was able to release its 10-meter filter bag technology for use in practical applications. As a result, Holcim (Germany) AG ordered at the beginning of this year the first EMC filtration plant — equipped with 10-meter filter bags — for the conversion of its kiln dedusting system at its plant in Lägerdorf.
The main advantage associated with longer filter bag lengths is primarily the clearly lower investment costs, which are the result of the compact design and a weight reduction of up to 30% — compare EMC 6-meter : EMC 10-meter. Compared to applications using the 6-meter filter variant, applications using 10-meter filter bags require only half of the installation space. It terms of the so-called secondary investment costs, this means an immense savings with respect to filter substructures or mill buildings, the foundation and access/inspection facilities for the filtration plant.
Especially when converting electrostatic precipitators to bag filtration systems, the existing casing volume can thus be used to optimal advantage. The possibility of installing a significantly larger filter surface area makes it possible to create reserves for future increases in performance (larger volume flows) in a cost-effective way.New: Fine-tuning of IMPULS-Compact filter program
Compact, decentralized filters installed directly at the emission source are now the preferred systems for dedusting auxiliary equipment in the production areas “crushing, grinding of raw materials, transport, packaging and storage”. Scheuch has fine-tuned its IMPULS-Compact filter program for volume flows ranging from 200 to 20,000 Am3/h by adding additional accessories and special models. Depending on the installation situation, the filters in this series are equipped with filter bags or cartridges that can be installed vertically or horizontally. They are pre-assembled at the factory and are delivered ready for electrical and pneumatic connection.
New: Cascaded classifiers reduce filler percentage economically
With its newly developed cascaded classifiers, Scheuch is able to achieve exceptional separation performance with variably adjustable filler removal, e.g., from a 20% filler proportion to 5% or, given the corresponding basic conditions, to even smaller proportions as low as about 2%. The classifiers can be used to process a maximum material load of 85 t/h and individual cascaded classifier lines can be operated in parallel for processing larger amounts of material. With its ability to deliver extraction and classifier plants from a single source, Scheuch offers optimally compatible systems to the plant operator.
