500th Electrostatic Precipitator From Scheuch
The ESP is installed at Holzbau AG/SpA, a member of the RUBNER Group based in Brixen/South Tyrol. It dedusts the flue gases generated by the incineration of wood shavings and dust from the production process in two boilers with a combined firing thermal capacity of 4.75 MW to a maximum level of < 20 mg/Nm3dry. Depending on the operating mode, flue gas composition, flue gas temperature and ambient temperature, the ESP’s capacity is in a range between a minimum of 4,500 Bm3/h (wet) and 16,600 Bm3/h (wet) at nominal load.
This single-stage ESP is equipped with an ash discharge system that operates via a discharge screw and rotary valve and a stainless steel exhaust stack equipped with measurement flanges that is installed directly at the filter. Because of the outdoor installation and in order to prevent condensation and provide protection against accidental contact, heat insulation was installed on the gas inlet and outlet flanges, the filter casing, the insulator cabinets, the dust collection basin, the rotary discharge valve and the exhaust stack. In addition, the two insulator heating circuits, the filter basin and the rotary valve are equipped with an auxiliary heating circuit.
Scheuch has developed and built dry ESPs for the dedusting of biomass-fired boilers since 1991. The company now offers a comprehensive program that includes a carefully tiered model lineup with firing thermal capacities ranging from 250 kW to 100 MW (airflows of 1,000 to approximately 500,000 Bm3/h). Besides 1-, 2- or 3-field dry ESPs, the program also includes compact filter units for applications starting at 250 kW, system combinations with an integrated pre-separator stage, and combinations consisting of a separate multi-cyclone and dry ESP. Depending on the respective flue gas parameters and the prevailing general conditions, it is thus possible to specify the specific optimal configuration for the respective application. This ensures separation rates of more than 99% and reliable compliance with clean gas dust loads of 10 mg/Nm3.
