FOSSIL FUELS

Fossil fuels such as coal (lignite and anthracite), peat, oil (heating oil, fuel oil) and natural gas were created over a long period of time from what was once plant biomass by biological and physical processes in the Earth's interior. When fossil fuels are burned, they create not only the greenhouse warming gas CO2, but also dust and S O2 emissions (with the exception of natural gas) that have a relevant impact on the environment.

The technologies used to clean exhaust gases include dry electrostatic precipitators (dedusting) and dry sorption or conditioned dry sorption using a fabric filter (dedusting and removal of SOx).
